Two supply chains in one guide, with separate specifications for dessert bananas and plantains, and for Hass and other avocados. Maturity and logistics must be negotiated separately.
India is a major production origin. Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia and the Philippines are important export origins. In Africa, examine Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon in particular. FAO identifies the EU, United States, China, Russia and Japan among major import markets. A producing-country list does not establish permission to ship to every destination.
Cavendish is prominent in dessert-banana export channels. Cooking plantain is a separate segment: define type, length, size and ripeness. Agree packing, traceability, ripening management and sanitary checks for fresh fruit. Production can be staggered through the year, but regular programmes depend on farms and logistics.

Mexico and Peru are major exporters; Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco and Tanzania also feature in the trade. Hass is a reference variety for many importers and ripeners; Fuerte and green-skin types address distinct markets. Define variety, count and physiological maturity before comparing offers.
The United States and Europe are major destinations. The Netherlands and Spain redistribute fruit, while France, Germany and the United Kingdom are important markets. Imports are not local consumption. In Africa, qualify actual distributor and hospitality demand rather than promising sales solely because a country produces little.

Bananas and avocados must not automatically be loaded together: specialists must validate temperature, ventilation, ethylene, maturity and transit for each lot. Request origin, season, container volume, cartons, certificates and precise destination. In recent HS versions, 080390 generally covers bananas other than plantains and 080310 plantains; verify the local version. Fresh or dried avocado is HS 080440.
